Fines and Replacment Cost Policy

The Beaman Memorial Public Library does not charge overdue fines on books, magazines, compact discs, audio cassettes, and records. Donations in lieu of fines are greatly welcomed.

Overdue fines are charged on the following items:

Video Cassettes at 2.00 per business day / per item. The maximum fine for videos is $25.00 per person. Senior citizens, defined as anyone 60 years or older, will not be charged overdue fines.
Interlibrary Loan Items at 1.00 per business day/per item. There is no maximum fine for interlibrary loan items. Fines on Inter-library loan items will be collected from senior citizens.

Patrons with items a month or more overdue cannot check out more items or renew any items until all overdue materials have been returned. Patrons with $15.00 or more in fines will have their borrowing privileges suspended until payment is made.

Replacement Cost

The replacement value of a library item includes the cost of purchasing the item, cataloging and processing the item, and any catalog maintenance activities.
