Thursday, November 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Local scientist and writer, Loree Griffin Burns, returns to celebrate the release of her newest children’s book, the story of one of the newest pieces of earth on Earth, the tiny island of Surtsey. It burst from the sea a mere fifty-four years ago and has changed from a lump of burning lava to home for a surprisingly diverse group of plants and animals that Icelandic scientists have been watching closely. In 2015 Loree joined them... and this book is the result. Copies of Life on Surtsey, as well as Loree’s other books, will be available for purchase, and all the proceeds will benefit our Library.
