Beaman Library subscribes to a variety of electronic resources. You may access many of these resources from a home or library computer with the use of your Beaman Library card. Please note, you must have a Beaman Library card, not a card from another library, in order to access these resources.
Mango Online Language Learning
To gain access to Mango, use the link on the left, enter your Beaman Library card number (found on the back of your card) and click the Quick Start button. Learn one of 63 languages offered in Mango. Mango is also beneficial to non-natives who wish to improve their English. Lessons are available in Arabic, Armenian, Cantonese, Mandarin, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnames and many others!
Freegal - Music Downloads and streaming
Freegal allows Beaman Library patrons five free music downloads per week and 3 hours of streaming per day. You can sign up for this service with your email address at the library's main desk. You will then receive an email with a link to the Freegal log in. You can keep track of your downloads in the upper right corner of the site. Every song has a sample clip you can listen to before you download. You must be logged in to enjoy the sample clips. The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM. TumbleBooks – eBooks for kids!
TumbleBook Library is a collection of animated picture books geared towards elementary school aged children. The books are designed to be colorful, engaging and interactive in order to promote literacy and learning. TumbleBooks provides enrichment to students who are reading independently with a variety of high interest material, support to students who require skill building and remote access to the entire collection from home. TumbleBooks requires Flash plug-in to view and hear the animation. Most computers are preloaded with Flash. If not, you can download the Flash plug-in for free here.
In automatic mode the pages turn by themselves and are narrated. While in manual, the narration is turned off and children turn the pages at their own speed. The Pause Button allows you to stop the story at any time. TumblePad Word Helper: Click on a book to hear a sentence repeated or click on a vocabulary word in order to hear it sounded out. Reading levels are provided for both automatic and manual modes. Click on the reading level to see other books at the same level.
TumbleBookCloud is an online collection of eBooks and read-along chapter books, graphic novels, educational videos, and audio books! All books are available with unlimited access, all the time, from any device with an internet connection. The read-along format combines the flexibility of an eBook with full-length professional narration highlighted text so kids can follow along. A growing collection of core curriculum titles such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Hamlet, and The Great Gatsby, including fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, drama (including Shakespeare), poetry, short stories and enhanced novels gives middle school students and teens a wide variety of option to choose from.
