Beaman Library Friends Help Create Community and More
The Friends of the Beaman Memorial Public Library began in 1981 with a mission “to provide a means above and beyond the Library’s normal resources by which Friends members and donors of gifts can assist in assuring the continuation of the high standards of quality and excellence achieved during the Library’s history.” Over the course of more than thirty years, the Friends group has donated well over $250,000 to cover the costs of programming for children, teens and adults, special collections, and equipment.
While the money you donate to the Friends of the Beaman Library pays for items as mundane as the copier lease, it most importantly supports Library activities and events that educate, delight, and bring the community together in more varied ways and for more age groups than any other Town service.
The Friends of the Beaman Library seeks to enable people to meet with their neighbors, explore wide-ranging topics, as well as share experiences and ideas. Each dollar you donate to the Friends is spent carefully to provide edification, entertainment, and social engagement to as many people as possible in the community. Whether you are young, or merely young at heart, male, female, working, retired or still in school from kindergarten to college, the Friends support a program or event that is aimed at you! The Friends of the Beaman Memorial Public Library hopes you will take advantage of these services and that you will continue to support the Friends.
